FIFA World Cup : Should Malaysia Emulate Brazil or Germany?

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib says we will be like Brazil national team if there is no leadership. Absence of leadership will lead to disaster for Malaysia, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak said today, using Brazil’s shocking 1-7 loss to Germany in the World Cup semi-finals as an analogy.

Should Malaysia emulate Brazil?

Portugal have Ronaldo, Argentina have Messi, Brazil have Neymar, and Germany have A Team. It’s time for Malaysia to stop emulating teams that rely on the skills of a few star players to carry them through in the World Cup, and to start emulating Germany, a group of talented individuals who always work as a team. Jerome Boateng (Ghanaian descent), Sami Khedira (Tunisian descent), Mesut Ozil (Turkish descent), Miroslav Klose (Polish descent), Lukas Podolski (Polish descent). When Marco Reus can’t play, they replaced him with Skhodran Mustafi (Albanian descent). It’s time for Malaysia to work once again as a team. Malaysia was a great football nation in this region when Karl-Heinz Weigang was the coach. That was the time when Malaysia played as A Team – R. Arumugam, Mokhtar Dahari, Soh Chin Aun, Shukor Salleh, Santokh Singh, Hassan Sani, James Wong, etc. It’s time to once again hire a German coach, and also please get someone who really knows about football to head FAM. 34 years ago Malaysia football team qualified for the Olympics. But instead of going to Moscow, we let the politicians to mix football with politics the way we let them mixed religions with politics.
